SuperHeroes wins at the Webby Awards!
We’re pretty darn happy to announce that two of our projects, Vodafone Lucky Calls and Rivella Kicks & Thrills have been awarded as official Honorees from the Webby Awards 2011.
The Webby? Yes! the Webby is the Internet’s most respected symbol of success and recognition that puts us in the esteemed group of industry leaders such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, TED.com, or NASA. Pretty cool, huh? :) And what the heck is an Official Honoree? you might be asking yourself now. Well, you’ll be happy to hear that it’s a precious diploma gifted to the best submissions of The Webby Awards, just a little 10% among the 10,000 entries over 60 countries worldwide. High five!
The Next Kilo
Don’t know yet when it’s coming up, but SuperHeroes will be part of the Next Kilo of KesselsKramer, we think the greatest Dutch International communications agency. A New Kilo picks up where the previous 2 Kilos of KesselsKramer left off, with lots of assorted category-defying oddities. For The Next Kilo we are now working hard on a new interactive campaign for dutch telecom Ben. It will most likely shake a few heads as well…

A Dark and mysterious figure, presumably a clown, strolling around a rundown factory.. Who is this guy anyway? And what’s the 18 doing on his hat, stencilled all over the country? We’ve just realised the teaser of a new SuperHeroes campaign coming up, in close collaboration with Youngworks

Latest SuperPower: 3D Motion Tracking
In preparation for a future project, we honed our skills onto our latest SuperPower: 3D Motion Tracking. While these may just be tests, they show one of the many powers we have at our fingertips.
Not only that, it’s a small glimpse at the inside of our studio: tiny dogs, and birds in mugs.
We show you our coffee table in the back room, Álvaro’s Batman mug (he’s kind enough to let the chicken nap there), and the duck that likes to hang out around the area.
SuperHeroes at Adobe XL
SuperHeroes had the opportunity to be at the Adobe XL event. Organized once a year by Adobe, this is a one-day event where a whole lot (almost 4000!) of creatives gather to get inspired, share knowledge and just get together.
Highlights of the day included Roger Stighall & Daniel Ilic from North Kingdom presenting the work they did for the Swedish Armed Forces, a rather entertaining Photoshop lesson by Adobe’s Senior Creative Director, Russel Brown, an inside peek into Pixar studios by Shading Art Director Belinda van Valkenburg as well as an in depth view of Arabic Typography by Arabic Type extraordinaire Thomas Milo.
We were especially excited by Pixar’s presentation **top secret, no photos or videos allowed**, where we gained insight into the creation and development of Pixar’s well-loved animated productions such as Finding Nemo, Toy Story 3 and (my personal favorite) Ratatouille. It was impressive how much time was spent getting the details right, from getting the right colour and iridescence on Nemo to the texturing of the buildings of Paris in Ratatouille. Once again we find that the difference between something good and something amazing lies in the details. The dedication of Pixar’s teams to getting to know the subject matter the were working on impressed us greatly. For instance, the core team working on Finding Nemo had to learn how to dive so that they could observe fishes in their natural habitat.
We were especially jealous of Pixar’s studio, it really is a creative wonderland! Maybe we need to have a cereal bar too…
